What the timing system does
The timing system synchronises the crankshaft and camshafts so that the valves open at exactly the right moment. On most Mercedes engines the timing is driven by a chain, with a tensioner, guides and valve lifters.
Warning signs
- Rattling for a few seconds after a cold start
- Camshaft or crankshaft position faults
- Uneven running and reduced power
- Engine warning light on
How we work
After diagnostics we take the engine apart and replace the worn parts: chain, tensioner, guides and, if needed, camshafts and valve lifters. We fit only parts from our own supply and finally check the timing alignment.
